The Padma Bridge

Padma bridge is not dream, rather it is now true. The Padma Bridge is a multipurpose road-rail bridge across the Padma river under construction in Bangladesh. It will connect Louhajong to Sharitpur and Madaripur. It will be also linking the south-west of the country to northern and eastern regions.

It will be two level truss bridge. The Padma Bridge total length will be 6.15km and width 18.10 m. It will be four-lane High-way and single lane railway. The bridge will have a total of 42 of spans, each 150 metres long and weighing 3,140 tonnes.

The project is now being funded from own resources of the Government of Bangladesh. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina laid the foundation stone of Padma bridge on 12th December 2015.

The bridge will open a new horizon in the communication system of the country and will bring a revolutionary change in the life and living of about six crore people in 19 South districts because it will connect directly to other regions including the capital Dhaka.
